The Camu-Camu is a small shrub that is found in the Amazon rainforest, mainly in flooded and waterlogged areas. It produces fruit of a round light orange, more or less the same size of lemons, which contain a significant amount of vitamin C. Precisely because of its high content of vitamin C, has created a large market demand for the Camu-Camu. Some groups are beginning to study cultivation methods for this shrub, which for now only grows naturally in the rainforest.

The fruit of the Camu-Camu contains more vitamin C known on the planet. Oranges provide about 500-4000 ppm of vitamin C, Acerola 16000-172000 ppm, while the Camu-Camu more than 500,000 ppm, or about 2g of vitamin C per 100g of fruit.
